Migraines, schmigraines

2 migraines, 20 days. Boohoo. Increased daily meds...fingers crossed...let's see what happens.

sorry i'm late to the tea party, but i've been go mode since i got here. Pounding headache most of the day, but as long as I can see, that means I can work...The day is starting to slow down so let's get to down to business.

What i was thankful for yesterday 11/8/12
My friends and family. I know i've already thanked them, but this is different. I am thankful that i have wise friends and family members. They remind me i have a lot to learn and they're all little teachers. There's a lot i don't know about in the world, but when i'm ready to learn something i realize i have many friends that are there to teach me. i guess i never really knew that. or maybe i wasn't paying attention. My goal is to pay more attention....

What I am thankful for today 11/9/12
My job. I have worked at a handful of places in my lifetime and always have seem to luck out on some great bosses and coworkers. I'm pretty lucky and I'll never take it for granted. Partly because I have always had bosses who have understood my "issues"; the migraines that come out of nowhere, the back issues that so easily rock my world....Maybe that's every workplace, but the people I work with are different. They will drive me home or to the doctor if something happens. They'll walk me to my car in the rain because I can't see and i need to be somewhere I feel safe (don't worry Gerry picked me up from my car in the parking lot). I also have learned so much from all of my bosses, here and in my past. I've gained a lot of knowledge about the type of work i do, do the nature of the food business (not just waitressing, but food-healthy food, farm to fork etc) and now the Garbage business-i've learned so much about recycling, what's going on in our world, what plastics really become...and of course in my area of accounting I think i'm never done learning. I've been doing this since I was in my 20's. I somehow stumbled into it and i never got out. A girl who hated Math....I should write a book....lol

And the winner is....

this GUY!!!!
found here

And i am ecstatic!!! I heard some grumbling on FB and I was astounded when the reasons they were pissed was because they had issues regarding RELIGION!!! People i will say it until I am blue in the face...LEAVE RELIGION OUT OF POLITICS. Be happy that you have the freedom to be whatever religion you choose. THAT is what this country is about. The freedom to speak as you like, the freedom of the press....etc...REMEMBER!!! So leave your personal views and your personal religious preferences and persecutions to yourself. Just because you don't find certain things right for your family, that doesn't mean the rest of America CARES what you think. Just be HAPPY you have the right to believe and love any God you choose.  So silly. So stupid even. People forget, time and time they forget the true meaning of being an American. Get on board or ship out to the mother country. It's time to move forward, so let's go.

Nov 7.
Today I am thankful to be an American. A place where I have the freedom to believe in my own God and accept people around me for who they are. This place where I can write freely on my blog and my government allows it. A place where i can vote. A place where I am in charge over MY own body.  Thank you America. I am proud to be an American.

I love presents in the mail...

that i've bought for myself! I received two of my subscription boxes.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate-(cute name for the product) Basically, you wash your face first and then spread  a thin layer on your face. I wet my hand and then massaged it in. The product was green and grainy, it did a great job i thought, i was as smooth as a baby's butt.
Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 Balm-first thing i noticed is it didn't have instructions, so i had to look up this product. To my amazement I noticed the price for the full size is $265. Why offer me a sample of something that is so expensive. No way in Hades i am going to buy it? But whatever, I applied to my face and i do have to admit my face was softer.
Oscar Blandi Pronto Wet hair Color deluxe-this is a conditioner and it's cool, you don't have to use too much of it. I'm still getting used to the smell.
Jane Iredale Self Tanner-I don't use self tanner. Maybe i'll give this to someone who does, but i fear that it will only cover one arm.
Aromachology Clean and Fresh-I found it to be a powerful crisp scent. I didn't mind it, but i'm still not sure of it.

Neutrogena Natural Lip Balm-when i got this in the mail at lunch yesterday this was the first thing i put in my pocket. Kinda reminds me of normal chapstick.
NYX Roll on Shimmer-Not really sure what i'll do with this, but i guess Halloween is coming up soooo...
Ferro Blush X3-the packaging for this was all wrong. I lightly dipped my brush in the small jar and holy crapola super color on my cheek. I didn't like it one bit. Blush should be in compact form and be subtle. I have pink dust on my robe and all over my vanity...Not happy. thinking of using it as eyeshadow.
ALFAPARF MILANO Cristalli Liquid Serum- I'm a serum girl, so i had to try this today. i like it. my hair feels soft and not too oily. Could also be the conditioner above, but since this came in a little jar i think i can keep using it for over a week. or put it in my purse and take it with me!
$20 Sole Society Gift Card-Why thank you Total Beauty, How did you know i already ordered shoes from there!!!!

Gerry's Birthday plans are turning into a camping trip. It's actually sounding like a lot of fun because these are most of our friends going. We're celebrating his company and his birthday. Does that mean I have to bring his presents with us?? i hope not, because the dutch oven he's been asking for is a bit too heavy for me to lug around. Which reminds me I need to get him a card and wrap his gifts. I could have sworn i got more. I am so bad this year. ACTUALLY I'm going to blame him, because I've been asking him for a month what he's wanted for his birthday. I know he wants a tablet, but I'd rather buy one on Black Friday when the sales are good. He did say he wants a new wetsuit. Listen to this, he was trying to sell 3 wetsuits at the garage sale. That means he has 4. sigh.

I want to try the yankees lady perfume....

So when is it going to rain? Because how nice would it be to stay home, watch movies and BAKE all weekend long?????

Did you know loafers are making a comeback? I remember wearing penny loafers during my Benetton and Gap phase, which was like 21 years ago. Yes i'm old...well not old..but very well preserved. I need to get some plaid skirts and V neck sweaters.

I am having a hard time relaxing today, maybe i should lay down.

Sites and stuff on them.
  • Epicurious- If you haven't signed up for their emails, you're a dork. Sorry, but really they have some great ideas and may inspire you to try something different or maybe enhance the recipes you already love. Just sign up, I get nothing if you do, but you will get a lot of inspiration!
  • Hautelook-great sales! shoes, boots and American Apparel has new items daily!
  • Rue La La-Firstly, i love this site. Thanks to them I have an affordable set of pots and pans that are BEAUTIFUL!!! Also this site is for any pocketbook size. Right now this link will take you to the Robert Mondavi wine sale. I don't drink, but the holidays are coming and taking a good bottle of wine with you to a party or an event or even giving wine as a gift is thoughtful. Prices aren't too bad.
  • Open Sky-this is just a fun site. check it out. lots of different items for sale
  • idausa.org- stands for in defense of animals. it's a great site, has links to their blog. Really a wonderful site. Please like them on facebook too!.

pawsitive dog story!
More like a positive dog picture. This dog was on the table, ready to be euthanized. Someone saved her life. Does this picture say THANK YOU? yes it does. There are dogs in shelters dying EVERYDAY. I will never understand buying from a breeder when all of these dogs go to the shelter. Save a life today. They will love you forever.

I have returned....

For a couple of days I couldn't think of anything to write. I attempted to write on Tuesday, but i sounded like i was babbling about nothing (which is what i normally do), so i decided fuck it and deleted the entire thing. Lots of things i want to share with you today. So let's get on with it...

  • I feel like i've been to too many funerals in the last 3 years. Everyone needs to stop dying. I am not a fan of losing people i care about. I went to one yesterday for my boss/owner of the company I work for. The church was packed, it's not even that packed for midnight mass (as a catholic i go once a year to Midnight mass on Christmas).  The service was followed by some touching speeches and then a lunch which everyone was invited to. The whole thing was beautiful, but seriously everyone stop dying because i don't want to go to anymore. :(
  • FYI Google Play is celebrating 25 billion apps and for the next 5 days you can get games and apps for 25 cents! awesomeness.
  • I had THE scariest experience yesterday, but i can't share it with all of you, because I haven't told my mom. I guess i'll have to tell her this weekend, because I need to write about it.
  • I want to share with you some of the websites that I like to check out. Some you may have heard about, maybe some you haven't. Check them out though:
trulia.com-I'm on the look out for homes in my area and this site gives you the history of the houses for sale and the estimated property taxes. You can even check out celebrity homes for sale!
joyus.com-this site is a bit different when it comes to shopping. Each item has a video, kinda like it's own mini commercial, so you get to see how the item works or show you how to use it. It's pretty nifty. Seems like the items are full price though, still it shows you cool foods, kitchen gadgets, containers, clothing, jewelry etc...Purdy kewl.
purewow.com-it's a stylish daily email that will share a style, a cuisine, a gadget and then tell you a couple of places where you can find it. And you can get discounts from retailers just by being a purewow member which is of course free!
All of these are free, by the way
Plukka-well this dandy, expensive site is for people like me who just love jewelry. The prices are marked down but for me, personally, still a bit expensive. I will keep looking and checking it out, you know....
Modewalk.ok the only problem with this website is that you have to sign in to see it...I know poo right??? but you can connect with facebook and poof there you see it. it's a free site as are all of these. Ok so not all of us can afford a skirt for like 5k and not everyone wears exactly what's on the runway, BUT we can check out the styles that are hitting the streets and incorporate them into our daily lives by buying similar items that we can afford. That's why i like this site. I have found items i would love (if i was a bijjilionaire) and actually found similar items on ideeli or hautelook for like a tenth of the price. So check this site out if you want, but I'm tellin ya, most of us normy's will not be able to afford buying stuff off this site.
Opensky.com-is kinda like joyous and purewow but items are one sale. Items tend to lean on the expensive side BUT some seem worth it. This site isn't as expensive as, let's say Modewalk. Check it out.
epicurious.com-mmmm daily emails of fantastic recipes and ideas. this one is a must.
joss and main-Welcome to your ideeli/hautelook site exclusively for home furniture, garden essentials and kitchen stuffs. :)

Shop online at Forever21 and get fifty percent off this weekend

I'll continue with more cool things you may want in your inbox next week!

ok POSITIVE DOG STORY!!!
Now this is a good story about a dog finding help for it's owner and i have to say a good samaritan who wasn't afraid of the dog.  Read here.  Just a reminder that our dogs or any ones dog can be a hero. Be kind to your potential hero pups at home.

have a great weekend all!
